Maria Boox
Maria is a Swedish yoga pioneer with a deep passion for yoga. She has been practicing and teaching for forty years and is considered a trailblazer, having opened one of the first yoga shalas in Sweden. Yogashala Stockholm was Maria's home for ten years, and many teachers in Stockholm and across Sweden have studied with and learned from her. Maria now teaches yoga independently worldwide. Maria's teaching is characterized by warmth and care. Her deep knowledge of yoga, pranayama, philosophy, and Ayurveda creates a holistic approach that adds depth and meaning beyond asanas.

She has a unique ability to see and address each student's individual needs. Maria is a dedicated student of her beloved Guruji, Pattabhi Jois, with whom she studied for thirteen years. She is authorized at Level Two by Guruji and also by Sharath. Maria is well-established in the Ashtanga yoga tradition and continues her studies in the lineage of many esteemed teachers. She is certified by BKS Iyengar, studies philosophy with Ramesh Balsekar, and has been certified to teach pranayama by Shri O.P. Tiwari. Additionally, Maria has completed a two-year training in Shamanic Healing at Gaia Life Retreat Centre.

Anette Broman, Assistant
Anette has practiced yoga for about 20 years. During a trip to Goa in 2013, she met Maria Boox and has since practiced Ashtanga regularly and participated in several retreats in Goa and numerous workshops with Maria Boox in Sweden and has also undergone Maria's two-year in-depth training. Since 2017,
Anette has been teaching YinYoga, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra on her own. She is trained by Magdalena Mecweld and Mats Nielsen and assists in their yin yoga teacher trainings. Anette works as a nurse and has a great interest in mindfulness and the effects of yoga on both body and mind. Anette will assist Maria on all sessions as well as lead the Yin Yoga afternoon classes.

Palm Grove Beach Resort
A small, cozy boutique hotel with 14 bungalows located on Ashvem beach in North Goa. Simple and charming have been the watchwords for the resort, which is decorated with mixed elements of exotic India with a Scandinavian touch. A few steps away from your Bungalow you’ll find long beaches to walk and rest on and to enjoy fantastic sunsets from.

The retreats Yoga Practise will take place at the Roof Top Shala with an irresistible view of the Arabian Sea. The yoga will consist of guided classes every morning between 08:00 and 10:00. 

In five afternoon classes we will immerse ourselves in gentle pranayama exercises, technique and yoga philosophy. Anette Broman will be assisting Maria during classes as well as be in charge for the afternoons were Yin Yoga will be on our schedule. The retreat is adressed to both beginners and more advanced practitioners who want to deepen the practice and understanding of yoga during a few restful and intensive days.

For indian food lovers, a culinary experience beyond the ordinary is offered. Delicious meals are created with a taste of India with international influences. Enjoy your Brunches and Dinner-buffets in the restaurant by the Beach.

For those open to adventure, there are a variety of activities beyond yoga to choose from. From trips to temples, visits to spice plantations, liberating dance under the open sky, meeting dolphins early in the morning. If you just want to take it easy at the Resort, it is of course perfectly fine. It is clear that the trip will give you memories for a lifetime.

Tentative daily program and schedule

On two afternoons guided excursion will be arranged for those who wish to join. More information and registration is done on site. Two afternoons and evenings are free for those who want to discover the surroundings. 

Accomodation and Food
The accommodation combines comfort with a feeling of authenticity and closeness to nature. You choose to share a double occupancy or choose a single occupancy at an additional cost.

As for the meals, they are served in buffet format. The food is based on fresh and locally produced ingredients, including fish and shellfish caught in the sea outside and with locally grown vegetables. Meals are served in the cozy atmosphere of the open air restaurant.

The price includes full board (except for two dinners on your free-time) which means breakfast/brunch buffet after Morning Yoga. Dinners will be served as buffet. Drinks other than filtered water are payable at check-out. There is a relatively large selection of beers and wines in different price ranges to choose from. Before dinner, you are welcome to have a drink (with or without alcohol) at the bar. Wi-Fi: Yes!

Solo travelers
We try as much as possible to place solo travelers in a shared Bungalow, but if there is no one to share a room with, you need to pay a single room supplement. Bungalow has a large double bed. Of course, we provide our own sets of sheets, pillows and blankets in case you choose to share the Bungalow. We can place an extra bed in the room.

Travel
Fly to Mopa Airport, GOX. Qatar Airlines offers the most comfortable flight with a total flight time of about 13 hours. You then fly down in the morning on March 13 and land in Goa early Saturday morning at 02:35 on March 14. You fly home on Sunday 23 March / Alternatively Monday 24 March at 04:10 and land in Sweden at 13:25 Sunday 23 March / Alternatively Monday 24 March. You book your flight yourself, for example, on skyscanner.se or flygresor.se. Do not book flights before the minimum number of participants is reached, when this happens we send out information that it is time to book flights, then we also make suitable suggestions.

Transfer
Transfers from and to the airport can be booked through the hotel, but are paid on site by credit card. The transfer takes about 45 minutes, depending on the traffic situation. Price 1500 INR per way for a car for max 4 people. Transfers are coordinated to share the cost for those with similar flight times.

Yoga equipment
Yoga mats can be borrowed on site, but we recommend that you bring your own.

Spa
The hotel does not have a spa, but during the week it is possible to book a massage with Saino.

Tips
Tips for housekeeping are normally left at check-out and can be paid by card. Tips for the Restaurant are normally left at check-out to the Restaurant. Normally is around INR 500 per day per person. The tip is shared between the staff.

Indian Rupees (INR) 1 USD = approx. 130 SEK

Credit card
It is fine to pay by credit card at the hotel and at most restaurants and established shops. We recommend bringing some INR in cash for possible local purchases, for example during excursions or beach walks.

Weather
In March it is around 30 degrees in the shade, usually sunny. There is usually a lovely gentle breeze coming from the sea. The sea had a temperature of about 32 degrees
